 Clam N Barbecue

You couldn't ask for a better day!

The weather was perfect for both clamming and the barbecue.

The day started at 8am for the nine clammers loading gear at the Cory Creek ramp on Nick Russo and Ed Fraczak boats. After a short ride to Fire Island the crew got busy digging the Great South Bay littleneck and cherrystones. By noon the cooler couldn’t handle another clam. We steamed back to the ramp pulled the rigs and set up the picnic area. Nick got three barbecues started as lessons on opening the sweet necks began. The picnic area was well shaded and a beautiful cool breeze blew from the beach. The first off the grill was marinated chicken with hero bread and onions and peppers for toppings. Nick continued to work his grills with sausage and peppers, Sweet kielbasa, Bubba burgers, Hotdogs and all the fixins. Mac salad, chips, pretzels, and more filled the picnic tables. Raw littlenecks on the half shell were opened, offered, and eaten thru out the day along with clams steamed open over the barbecue. Guest of the Boat Owners Group were all offered a nice bag of clams to take home. To finish the perfect day we enjoyed peanut butter cookies, chocolate cheese cake as well as a nutty chocolate cake.

Thanks Again

Nick
